Chateau Hestia is a nature-inspired restaurant, villa and events place in Silang, Cavite. It is also situated in a densely vegetated area.
It offers a restaurant, a bar, and accommodation for those who want to stay for more than a night. The suites are not air conditioned and the windows are installed with normal screens.
Mosquitoes were observed to be present in stagnant water in plants, decorative bottles and trash bins. Rainfall regularly occurred during the study.
During the course of the field trial, all windows with ordinary screens in the Sampaguita suite were installed with Olyset Net Window Screen.
One of the doors of the restaurant was also installed with Olyset Net. For a period of four (4) weeks, the entomologist gathered data and analyzed the trend of the mosquito population.
The result of the trial showed a significant difference on the density of mosquito between the Olyset Net protected suite and the one with untreated screen.
The collected data over four weeks shows that inside areas of VILLA 1 where Olyset Net Window Screen was installed had far fewer catches of Aedes sp. mosquito eggs and adults compared to catches inside VILLA 2, the control area. VILLA 1 entrances and entry ways were well protected by Olyset Net Window Screen from mosquito intrusion as compared to those of VILLA 2.
The graphs show the trend yielded from four weeks of data collection in Chateau Hestia. VILLA1 inside areas had the least catches of mosquito adults and eggs.
Also, repellency of Olyset Net Window Screen was apparent as catches outside VILLA 1 where Olyset Net Window Screen was installed had fewer outside catches of mosquito eggs and adult for VILLA 2.
