The ITFC Team conducted the Olyset Net Window Screen Trial in the four (4) cottages. Two (2) cottages were installed with Olyset Net Window Screen, and another two (2) cottages were installed with an ordinary screen to determine the effects of Olyset in the reduction or elimination of mosquitoes in the area.
Site inspection of Gratchi’s Getaway identified several hotspots inside the premise. Banana leaves and old water pailes were found to have become water holding vessels and were found to be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Olyset Net Window Screen was installed as a complete barrier. All entry ways such as windows, screens and small entry points were covered with Olyset Net Window Screen. Control areas used untreated screens.
OVITRAPS were numbered and placed in the internal and external areas of the room of both Olyset Net Window Screen installed areas and control areas with untreated nets.
Cottages protected by Olyset Net Window Screen registered significantly lower catches of mosquito eggs and adults compared to cottages protected by Untreated screens.
Catches of mosquito eggs and adults outside cottages over a 4-week period also suggest a repellant effect of Olyset Net Window Screen. Mosquito eggs and adults were found to be lower compared to cottages with untreated screen.
